Buy the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus if you want a 10.4 lb unit for one night of CPAP with the humidifier off, a router on UPS, or 300 to 600 W devices a smaller unit can't run, with the option to add an extra battery later. Skip it if a full-size fridge is the main load: a typical fridge needs all of its 1,200 W surge just to start, and the battery runs it for only a few hours. It holds 286 Wh of LiFePO4, supplies 600 W through 3 AC outlets and lists a UPS switchover under 10 ms.

What will it run, and for how long?
Each device on its own from a full charge, running nonstop (fridges cycle as normal). With no car outlet, the CPAP runs on its AC power brick; divide CPAP hours by your hours of sleep to get nights. Includes the battery reserve, conversion losses and standby draw from our published formula.

Where the RIVER 3 Plus wins, and where it's ruled out
We ran eight common situations through the quiz engine. Rank is among every model that passes the hard limits.
| Situation | Result | Runtime or reason |
|---|---|---|
| Outage overnight: fridge, Wi-Fi and phones (carry it) | Ruled out | Start-up surge too high: needs about 1,215 W; it peaks at 1,200 W. |
| Outage for a full day, same devices (wheels OK) | Ruled out | Start-up surge too high: needs about 1,235 W; it peaks at 1,200 W. |
| CPAP for two nights away, one-hand carry | Ruled out | Runs your devices for about 17 h; you asked for 24 h. |
| Weekend car camping: 12 V fridge, lights, phones, with solar | Ruled out | No 12 V car socket for the 12 v portable fridge (45 l). |
| RV day: fan, TV, laptop, phones | Ruled out | Runs your devices for about 4.5 h; you asked for 24 h. |
| Remote work day: Starlink, laptop, phone | Ruled out | Runs your devices for about 2 h; you asked for 24 h. |
| Home office on UPS: router, laptop, phone, overnight | Ruled out | Runs your devices for about 4.6 h; you asked for 10 h. |
| Overnight essentials on a budget under $500 | Ruled out | Start-up surge too high: needs about 1,215 W; it peaks at 1,200 W. |
It's ruled out of all eight, which says more about the situations than the unit. All three fridge rows fail on start-up: a fridge plus Wi-Fi needs about 1,215 W for a moment, just over its 1,200 W rating. The camping row needs a 12 V socket it doesn't have, and the rest, including two nights of CPAP on the AC adapter, ask for more than 286 Wh. The smaller jobs below are what it's built for.

What does it do well?
- One night of CPAP in a small box. With the humidifier off, about 11 h on the CPAP's AC power brick, more than one night of 8 hours, at 10.4 lb.
- More output than most units its size. 600 W continuous against the 300 W typical of current models near 286 Wh, enough for a corded drill (about 440 W by our appliance data).
- Room to grow. The EB300 or EB600 extra battery takes it to as much as 858 Wh, so the unit you buy for travel can cover a longer outage later.
- A small UPS. A switchover under 10 ms keeps a router or CPAP running through a blink; a router and modem last about 9.3 h.
- Quick to refill. Full from the wall in 60 minutes at up to 380 W; it also takes up to 220 W of solar, and EcoFlow lists a car charging input of 11–55 V at up to 220 W.
- Long battery life. LiFePO4 rated for 3,000 cycles to 80%.
What should you know before you buy?
- A kitchen fridge leaves no margin. The 1,200 W surge rating equals the roughly 1,200 W a typical fridge needs to start. Anything else plugged in at that moment, or a fridge that starts harder than average, pushes it over. Plan on a mini fridge or a bigger unit.
- 600 W is the running limit. Kettles, microwaves, coffee makers, hair dryers and sump pumps are out. X-Boost lets a heating appliance up to 1,200 W run at reduced power; it isn't extra output.
- No 12 V car outlet. EcoFlow's US spec table doesn't list one, so a 12 V camping fridge won't plug in and a CPAP can't use its DC cable. Running the CPAP through its AC brick costs some runtime.
- A heated humidifier cuts CPAP time hard. About 4.1 h, less than a night. Turn off any ECO or AC auto-off setting so the outlets don't cut out at a low load, and talk to your doctor and your utility's medical program before relying on any battery.
- One USB-C port. It's 100 W, enough for most laptops (about 3.9 h for a typical one), but only one at a time at full speed.
- Some details aren't on the spec page. We couldn't confirm the warranty term or the solar input voltage range from EcoFlow's US page, so check both on the listing. There are several RIVER 3 Plus listings on Amazon; the button goes to the base unit.
What are the closest alternatives?
The Anker SOLIX C300 is the DC-friendly option: a car socket for a CPAP's 12 V cable or a 12 V fridge, three 140 W USB-C ports and 9.1 lb, but 300 W of output and no expansion; see C300 vs RIVER 3 Plus and our C300 guide. The Bluetti Elite 30 V2 matches the 600 W output and adds a car socket and 140 W USB-C at 9.48 lb, but publishes no surge rating and takes no extra battery. If a kitchen fridge is the real goal, a 1 kWh unit such as the EcoFlow DELTA 3 runs it for about 15 h with a 3,600 W surge rating. More small options are in the best small power stations.

- Buy it for a night of CPAP away from home with the humidifier off, a router or modem on UPS, laptop and phone charging, or small tools up to 600 W, especially if you might add a battery later.
- Skip it if you need to keep a kitchen fridge cold, run a heated CPAP humidifier all night, plug in a 12 V fridge or CPAP DC cable, or cover a full outage day. The sizing quiz checks your devices against every model.

What people actually ask
Can the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus run a refrigerator?
Only just, and not in a way to rely on. A typical top-freezer fridge needs about 1,200 W for a moment to start, and the RIVER 3 Plus's surge rating is exactly 1,200 W, so there's no margin. With a router also plugged in, the start-up need rises to about 1,215 W and our engine rules it out. Even alone, 286 Wh runs that fridge for about 4.4 h. A mini fridge (about 6 h) is a realistic match; for a kitchen fridge, step up to a 1 kWh unit.
How many nights of CPAP will the RIVER 3 Plus run?
EcoFlow's US spec table lists no 12 V car output, so the CPAP runs on its AC power brick. With the humidifier off, that's about 1.3 nights of 8 hours; with a heated humidifier and tube, about 4.1 h, less than one night. With the largest extra battery (858 Wh in total), those become about 4.1 nights and about 1.5 nights. This is power planning, not medical advice: check your CPAP maker's power guidance, talk to your doctor, and register with your utility's medical program, which gives notice of outages but doesn't guarantee power.
Can I add a battery to the RIVER 3 Plus?
Yes. EcoFlow lists the EB300 (286 Wh) and EB600 (572 Wh) extra batteries, for up to 858 Wh in total. That triples the runtime but not the power: output stays at 600 W with a 1,200 W surge, so a fridge start still has no margin.
What does X-Boost mean on the RIVER 3 Plus?
X-Boost lets a heating appliance rated up to 1,200 W, such as a small kettle or hair dryer, run at reduced power within the 600 W limit, so it heats slowly. EcoFlow lists it separately from the 1,200 W surge rating. Neither raises continuous output, so we treat this as a 600 W unit.
Does the RIVER 3 Plus work as a UPS?
EcoFlow lists a switchover under 10 ms, enough for a router, modem or CPAP to keep running through a blink. A router and modem alone last about 9.3 h. Turn off any ECO or AC auto-off setting in the app so the outlets don't shut off at a low load.
The bottom line
The RIVER 3 Plus is a 10.4 lb, 286 Wh unit with more output than most units its size and a path to 858 Wh. It's a strong pick for one night of CPAP without the humidifier and for small electronics on UPS. It isn't a fridge battery: a typical fridge uses its entire 1,200 W surge rating to start and drains it in about 4.4 h, so for kitchen backup, step up to 1 kWh.
